1. Update my record of time worked. (10mins)
2. Invoice reconciliation. (5mins)
3. Work on our new product - details to come later. (5hrs 30mins)
4. Customer site visit - happy customer! (3hrs 35mins)
5. Review the project schedules. Moved both projects out by a week, because there are more forms required for the new software than I originally expected and I am not as far down the road with the CRM as expected, so there is not as much that I can just copy across to the new product. (5mins)
6. Review progress made this week and ensure the schedule is right for next week. (5mins)
This is the story of our journey from deciding to go into business to being in business for ourselves. A number of friends asked for details of the actual process, particularly any pitfalls - so that others can learn from our mistakes!

Today's work on/in the business - Wed 27 Jan
Well, yesterday was Australia Day and I managed to actually have the day off! :-)
Yes, this is actually a big achievement for me - with all the pressure to find a software platform that our solution could be built on, it's been tough convincing myself that a day off is justified. But having sorted that out on the weekend, I was happy enough to have the day free.
A full day socialising - a bike ride and breakfast with friends in the morning, then home to shower and change and an afternoon in the park at a bbq with (mostly) other friends! Pity that I forgot to put on sunscreen... but I did have a cap on, so it's my arms that suffered. I need to remember that 'I'll do that in a few minutes' NEVER happens if it's me talking about sunscreen...
1. Update my record of time worked. (10mins)
2. Networking - follow up on posts and queries - 2 posts today. (45mins)
3. Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 77 visits over the last month - this is starting to pick up again, 35 new visits, 50% referrals, but not much searching going on - still a bit of a hang over from business slow down over christmas/new year period, 1 visit from Malta and 1 from Pakistan. (15mins)
4. Record business emails. (5mins)
5. Work on our new product - details to come later. (6hrs 5mins)
6. Ensure accounts are up to date. (5mins)
7. Invoice reconciliation (5mins)

Today's work on/in the business - Tues 12 Jan
1. Update my record of time worked. (5mins)
2. Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 52 visits over the last month - this is basically December and into January, which we expected to be quiet, 28 new visits, which is over half of the visits, so that's good, nearly 50% direct, but less searches than referrals, so that's not so good, 1 visit from Norway and 1 from New Zealand. (10mins)

Today's work on/in the business - Fri 8 Jan
1. Continuing work on the new platform for CRM. Thanks to the mailing list folks and the wonders of the internet, a proposed solution was worked out while I slept! So I was able to get the example process working and then incorporate those changes into my development work, so now we start moving forward again. :-) (3hrs 30mins)
2. Invoice reconciliation. (15mins)
3. NEIS quarterly reporting. Unfortunately, not nearly as much technical support work has been done as was originally planned - BUT we haven't spent as much to set the business up as we originally thought we'd need either. (40mins)
4. Ensure accounts are up to date. (5mins)
5. Start working on documenting my procedures. (20mins)
6. Review the project schedules - added another week as I am nowhere near looking into email processes, which is what the schedule says I should be doing. Unfortunately, chances are that I'll have to push it out again next time too. (5mins)

Today's work on/in the business - Tues 5 Jan
1. Continuing work on the new platform for CRM. Not really happy about this at the moment. What I haven't written is that I got to the point of adding another required feature to the system and got errors. Those who are using this could not help me. It was suggested that my installation had corrupted, so the last two days work has been reinstalling on virtual machines - which only gives me a different error! So now I am going to try installing on a Ubuntu virtual machine, in the hopes that this allows me to move forward. As we are planning on offering the software as a hosted solution first up, this is ok - BUT IT'S ANNOYING! (5hrs 20mins)
2. Update my record of time worked. (10mins)
3. Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 45 visits over the last month - this is basically December, which we expected to be quiet, 24 new visits, which is still good, nearly 50% direct, but the rest evenly split between searches and referrals, so that's ok as well. (25mins)
4. Invoicing. (20mins)
5. Complete the first BAS for the business! Unfortunately, we had to pay the ATO a chunk of GST, but it won't be as much next time, as we bought some stuff in the next quarter, rather than just getting income. (But don't get me wrong - having income that you need to pay GST on is good!) (1hr 5mins)
