Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 71 visits - so down more, 49 new visits - so a good mix of new and existing visitors, 23% search, 15% direct and 62% referral traffic - keyword/site path information shows that current processes are working to bring people to the site, 2.69 pages per visit, 1:00 average time on site is still reasonable - these last figures show people actually look at the site once they find it. The holiday doldrums are still here - as expected. (10mins)

A difficult day.
My ex-partner had to have the last of our cats put down on Friday night as he had a stroke.
Then we had to take a close friend into hospital to get an issue checked out - which fortunately turned out to have a very simple and mild outcome. But all in all, a tougher day than you would hope for.
And almost none of the Christmas shopping is done.

Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 110 visits so up a little bit again - impacted by Cup Day and the 'long weekend' that goes with it in Melbourne, 68 new visits - so a good mix of new and existing visitors, 35% search, 24% direct and 41% referral traffic - search is staying up, keyword/site path information shows that current processes are working to bring people to the site, 2.16 pages per visit, 1:48 average time on site is reasonable - these last figures show people actually look at the site once they find it and they are staying reasonably consistent. Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 113 visits so still sliding lower, 70 new visits - so a good mix of new and existing visitors, 33% search, 33% direct and 33% referral traffic - search is staying up, keyword/site path information shows that current processes are working to bring people to the site, 1 visit from Panama, 1.95 pages per visit, 1:44 average time on site is reasonable - these last figures show people actually look at the site once they find it and they are staying reasonably consistent. 3. Preparing site map to submit to Google for new website customer. Unfortunately, having difficulty generating the file automatically - needs more investigation. (30mins)
Dramas at the end of the day when our friends in London got the wrong day of arrival for our travelling friend - so they thought she was missing! Eventually worked out that they were expecting her a day earlier than she is scheduled to arrive - just around midnight our time! Very exciting/interesting/stressful end to the day - took a long time to wind down from that. Hopefully she will turn up as expected on the right day!

Today's work on/in the business - Sun 5 Sept
1. Update my record of time worked. (5mins)
2. Review request for website revamp and initial work already done. Asked some questions about processes. Reading up on Mailman, which is the list manager available for integration. (2hrs 50mins)
3. Continue work on test setup for website changes for new customer. (20mins)
A very frustrating day yesterday. We have the operating system for the test setup - but it is refusing to load on any of our test machines. Work will continue on this.

This was a really good meeting, as he has definite ideas on what he needs, but is open to advice on how to set it up and move forward. As a real bonus, he had two of his kids cancel for dinner, so we got invited to eat with them as well! (2hrs)

Thankfully, we met most of them - the obvious one that failed being my requirement to exercise (again), but I have now joined a gym, which is helping. Some of the other processes are starting again, but with a focus on the Virtual Assistant work, not CRM. (10mins)
4. Bank reconciliation. (15mins)
5. Networking - follow up on posts and queries - 2 posts today. (25mins)
6. Bookkeeping for new customer. (35mins)

Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 166 visits so staying up fairly well, 97 new visits - so a good mix of new and existing visitors, 39% search, 36% direct and 25% referral traffic - search is staying up, keyword/site path information shows that current processes are working to bring people to the site, 2.30 pages per visit, 1:50 average time on site is reasonable - these last figures are still reasonable - people actually look at the site once they find it. (10mins)

A mixed day. We went to the marketing event as we were given free tickets - but my partner wanted to take a few photos to make our business blog more interesting, then he got a call from the client with the dead laptop before he had put it away safely - and there it stayed... We are waiting on the call that says they didn't find it... Annoying!

Today's work on/in the business - Tues 10 Aug
1. Update my record of time worked. (5mins)

Look at the statistics that Google Analytics gives you. 173 visits so going up again, 74 new visits - so a good mix of new and existing visitors, 38% search, 30% direct and 32% referral traffic - search is staying up, keyword/site path information shows that current processes are working to bring people to the site, 1.93 pages per visit, 1:30 average time on site is good - both these last figures mean that people generally actually read the information that's on the website although the time on site has gone lower. So overall, we just need to keep the trend going up. (15mins)

Well... sometimes getting organised to go out to the monthly networking night seems like a lot of work... And then you have to stand up and say who you are and give a brief description of your business - which is a scary concept to me, as it's mostly a bunch of strangers... BUT we do it - I'm the only one of our group who has actually been to all of these (I think I missed one!).
So last night - it paid off for the second time!
Dave and I arrived and we signed in and got our name tags and were starting to think about getting something to eat and a coffee or soft drink. One of the guys that we've seen regularly at these nights, but don't usually do more than say hello to, came over to us. Turns out he's bought some software and can't get it to work - says that the only reason he came along tonight is because he remembered us and thought we could help him out! Stated that his time is too precious to waste on getting frustrated when he was pretty sure we could do it for him - so that's another customer!!!!
Then there's the actual meeting - really interesting, though a bit over the top, speaker who apparently was born in Frankston but now speaks all over the world and has offices in London, San Diego and Melbourne! Definitely thinking about going to another of his sessions.
So, we stay around outside afterwards, mostly to talk to Georg Beilharz about questions he had about tracking why people don't buy his software... Little bit more food, more soft drink... Chat to a lady who turns out to be the one from down the front who said she was a business coach - gave her a card and explained to her how I thought our businesses could profit from the interaction... Then another guy that I haven't seen before comes over and starts chatting... After going through the description of what his business is and the snazzy equipment they have, we get to the real purpose for him talking to me... So I have a WordPress website to look at and quote on putting the new graphics in place for!
See - this is why we go to the meetings each month. :-)
