Back to find that the smoke alarm had gone off, the police had sent the fire brigade, the fire brigade knocked down the newly replaced small piece of fence at the side of the house - fortunately I had accidentally left the back door on the latch, not locked, so they didn't have to actually break into the house (!) - just to pull the battery out....!!
